Over 70 youths from Makindye division, Kibuye I parish have today disqualified from getting youth livelihood programme funds to develop themselves as a measure to fight against poverty and unemployment.
This has happened at Makindye during a youth livelihood programme selection committee headed by Herman Herbert George, ward administration and Peace Mukayisire youths officer Kampala capital city authority (KCCA), saying out of 10 groups which registered, only 6 groups have been disqualified specifically due to failure to meeting requirements such as required number of persons in each group between 10-15 members, age limit ranging from 18-30 years, failure of attendance to some groups among others.
According to Herbert, the 5 qualified groups are to go for further training commencing on 18 next week to get more techniques and advise on various businesses to deal with and how to utilise these funds effectively, adding that each group is to receive money commencing next year in accordance to its budget, but doesn’t go beyond UGX12.5m.
In the same manner Milly Nakalyango, councillor Kibuye I parish appealed to disqualified groups to stay calm and retry for next year.
Meanwhile some of the angry disqualified youths wanted to exchange slaps and blows with Milly Nakalyango insisting her over being supportive to this move due to political issues.
