Opposition Forum for Democratic Change FDC has committed to mobilise funds for the ruling National Resistance Movement NRM MPs who are advocating for the removal of presidential age limit which stands at 75 years asserting that they are money motivated.
Addressing a news conference at the FDC party headquarters in najjankumbi the party secretary general Hon Nathan Nandala Mafabi wondered why the same MPs who resisted the amendment of civil servants extension of retirement age are advocating for amendment of that of the presidency candidate thus concluding that they are money motivated since most of them are doing badly economically.
He thus proposed that the MPs who are pro amendment should tell the truth so that the 40 million Ugandans collect for them money to stop them from committing treason.
“if all the 40 million Ugandans contribute 1000 for these indebted MPs that will be 4 billion and this we will give to those in support of the amendment so that we stop from the same, as FDC we are ready to spear head the campaign.” said Nandala
He also called upon president Museveni not be obsessed with power while the economy is doing badly adding that in case he wants the amendment of article 102b he should first bring all the legislators that where in the constituent assembly to shade more light on the same.
In the same way Nandala Mafabi has revealed that they are left with no option but rather to physically engage the “goons” who work with police to brutalise the innocent Ugandans who opposed to the amendment thus appealing to the police chief Gen Edward Kale kayihura to resign his work rather than turning police into a criminal, NRM or Museveni police.
Meanwhile all the presidential aspirants for the FDC party presidency have called off their programme to join the front to resist the amendment.
Nandala has once again appealed to Ugandans that are against the amendment to walk to parliament from their various locations tomorrow ahead of the anticipated tabling of the motion by the Igara west MP Raphael Magyezi seeking leave of parliament to prepare the presidential age limit amendment bill which is a private members bill.
