The ruling for the presidential age limit petition is set for the 26th of July at Mbale high court according to the notice issued by the registrar court of appeal.
Speaking to one of the petitioners who also represented himself during the hearing, Male Mabirizi Kiwanuka he expressed joy upon hearing the news adding that he is so confident that the ruling will go in his and co petitioners favour.
He also urged all Ugandans who are in support of the petition to go in huge numbers to Mbale court the day the ruling is set to be delivered.
The petitioners are challenging the legality of amending the Constitution in regard to the lifting of age limit for a presidential candidate from 75 to indefinite, the presence of security personnel in Parliament as well as the extension of the terms MPs from five to seven years with immediate.
Subquently the Deputy Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo chose himself and four others judges including Remmy Kasule, Elizabeth Musoke, Cheborion Barishaki and Kenneth Kakuru to start hearing the petition on April 9 at Mbale high court which many civil societies contested but the status quo remained.
the petitioners who filed the matter include a business man Male Mabirizi Kiwanuka, Uganda Law Society, aggrieved citizens of Tooro sub-region and Members of Parliament.
