The former Catholic priest who also doubled as the Champlain for Tororo diocese reverend father Gerald Peter Maganda Mugabi has crossed from the Roman Catholic Church to the evangelical Oarthdox Catholic Church (Antioch) ahead of the synod of Antioch bishops across the globe slated for Monday 06 November at Eleanorah hotel Kireka and the consecration of father Jacinto Kibuuka as the Bishop for Central and Eastern Uganda on the 12th of November at Mamre prayer centre international Namugongo Janda.
According to father Gerald he was suspended because he is a charismatic priest who refused to close a prayer group yet he was the Champlain of the diocese.
He argues that he was not suspended through the right procedures since his letter didn’t bear the right wordings for his suspension which conceives him that he is still a priest.
He adds that the Roman Catholic Church okayed charismatic preaching in the synod of bishops which sat in Jerusalem were a proposal by a one Bishop Gemadile was endorsed that whoever fights it will be fighting God.
An emotional Gerald also revealed that when he was suspended the Catholic Church ordered him not to enter any catholic institution.
“when I was suspended I was ordered not to enter any catholic institution either to sleep or to eat there not even a medical facility to go for treatment and even to enter Catholic Church for prayers.
I want to thank father Deo and father Kibuuka for welcoming me to a place where I feel at home and my sister who took care of me after being suspended.” said father Gerald.
While introducing father Gerald to the congregation, father Jacinto Kibuuka the Bishop elect for central and eastern uganda who was also suspended from the Roman Catholic Church under unclear circumstances emphasised that as priest they are there to serve God not Man.
“we are not here to do a job for a man but we are serving the living holy God, we are determined to serve the people of God faithfully and trustworthyly .we are not looking for wealth, honors and pride but we are serving God so that he takes us to heaven.
Father Gerald makes the tenth priest join father Kibuuka in the space of only two years ever since he was chased away from Roman Catholic Church.
Meanwhile over thirty bishops from various countries had arrive for the synod by Sunday which will be opened by the speaker of parliament Rt Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.
