Arua: Release journalists or we storm the detention centres- HRNJ

Journalists through their uniting body Human Rights Network for journalists-Uganda HRNJ-UGANDA have given the security agencies only today to unconditionally release several journalists who were arrested yesterday in Arua while on their lawful duty and also had their gadgets consificated.
According to the national coordinator HRNJ Robert Ssempala, said failure to unconditionally release journalists and their gadgets or charge them before competent courts of law incase they committed any crime by tomorrow or else journalists will storm the places where their colleagues are being arrested demanding for their release.
Ssempala also questioned what befallen security agencies to use mighty over reason.
Some of the detained journalists include Herbert Zziwa, Ronald Muwanga of NTV, while NBS’s Kibalizi John, Ongom, Julius Bakabaage Yiga and Monitor’s Yasin Mugerwa were battered and their gadgets consificated.
All these were covering the chaos after the candidates rallies in Arua municipality which also led to the death of the Kyandodo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi wine Kawuma Yasin who was shot at by security officials.
