Events promoter Balaam Barugahara threatens to sue fellow promoter Andrew Mukasa Bajjo of Bajjo Events for leaking information about him registering “people power” as a non-governmental organisation.
This is the second time Bajjo is finding himself in trouble in a matter of months.
On December 21st 2018, Spark TV aired a programme ‘Koona’, where Rubaga South MP Kato Lubwama slapped Bajjo on air for putting him on the spot on failure to fellow Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
Bajjo accused Lubwama of making no contribution in Parliament because he cannot speak English.
Battle with Balaam
Now his fellow events promoter is also taking Bajjo to court for allegedly posting “false” things about him on Facebook Monday January 28, 2019.
“…its true balaam barugaharabalaam coordinated the registration of people power hmmmm.. below is the evidence from him nowonder he is so obbessed with n.r.m party.. Ugandans wake up,” Bajjo Eventz Clear Process posted sharing a video.
“First-hand information breaking news people power, clock, and red colour where registered long time ago and they are planning to sue us to use their party symbols now people power is a registered political party. News reaching my desk balaam barugaharabalaam and his boss was a chief coordinator of that project he is responsible for all that mess.
Bajjo events source of first-hand information soon am making a live video to prove my source but Ugandans u busy sleeping yet our competitors are busy putting us down its high time twebereramu instead of sleeping and over talking without action…”
While sharing a notice of intention to sue dated January 29, from his lawyers Muwema & Co. Advocates, Balaam said: “The less you respond to negative people the more peaceful your life will become.”
He adds: “Bajjo Eventz Clear Process Hope u respond to this message with proof otherwise Stop the hate campaign project You started with falsehood immediately.”
In defence, Bajjo said:…”source of first-hand information anything bad might happen to me according to inside intell balaam barugahara and team of big lawyers is organised to put me down for giving you accurate information since I was the first person to let you know about their bad move to down play our struggle.”
He added: “Keep your fingers crossed for me. The struggle continues. We shall fight till the last battle even our souls they will fight.”
Muwema tells Bajjo in his letter that the Facebook post ignited a social media hate campaign against his client [Balaam].
“For the record, our client has never registered the words or name “people power” and he has no intention of registering those words at all,” Muwema writes.
Citing social media insults and abuses, Muwema said Balaam now demands Bajjo retracts the Facebook post and apologises.
He also demands Shs1bn compensation for damages and Shs50m for legal fees.
