BESIGYE CONVOY BLOCKED FROM ACCESSING MUSUMBA RALLY

Police in kamuli has blocked the four time presidential aspirant and former Forum for Democratic change FDC president Dr. Kizza Besigye and his convoy from proceeding to Kamuli Town where Salamu Musumba a candidate on the FDC ticket is expected to hold her last campaign rally for Kamuli Municipality Member of Parliament.

Besigye who is in the company of the Kampala Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago, FDC deputy secretary General Harold Kaija, FDC Secretary for Mobilization Ingrid Turinawe and others are blocked at Bukungu a place that leads to the main road to Kamuli town where the rally was expected to start at 1pm but by the time of filing this story at 2:30pm the situation had not normalized.

Police was offering an alternative route to Besigye however he was blocked on either side which has prompted him not to take it.

A furious besigye says that police and government are only playing their games of intimidation so as impact fear in the voters thus an appeal to the voters to remain steady fast and emphasizing that in all this government will not win.

In the same president Museveni is also expected in Kamuli to campaign for the NRM flag bearer Hajati Rehema Wetongola who is also vying for the same seat despite court of appeal throwing her out of parliament on grounds that she lacked prerequisite academic papers.

Meanwhile Besigye first tried to pay a courtesy visit to a renowned academia Dr. Stella Nyanzi at Kiira Road Police division where she has been detained since Friday night for fund raising from the public for the menstrual pads without registration and other internet misuses charges but was blocked by policeand the situation was not different from other journalists who tried to access her.
