Bidco pays Shs11.2B to 4,000 farmers

The managing director BIDCO Uganda limited, Vimal Shah, says the company has so far payed up to Shs11.2 billion to its more than 4,000 farmers in 2016 alone.

Shah has also revealed that 90% of the vegetable oil demand is produced by Uganda and that the company is currently undertaking the construction a $30 million processing plant to increase the capacity of its edible oil exports to the region.

Shah also admits that despite the significant growth of the company, the conflict in neighbouring South Sudan and infrastructure challenges have impacted on the business going forward.
