Bobi wine charged with possession of gun, remanded until 23rd August

Kyandodo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi wine has finally been arraigned at Gulu court martial subsequently charged with unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
This has been revealed by the Uganda People’s Defense forces updf spokesperson brigadier Richard Karemire issued today evening.

Karemire said following Monday incidents were it’s alleged that people organized by Bobi wine pelted stones to President Museveni’s motorcade leaving one of the rear wind screen of the smashed, As part of the investigations into these acts of violence, the Police
arrested key organizers and participants including Hon Robert
Ssentamu Kyagulanyi the Member of Parliament for Kyadondo
East Constituency.
He adds that During the search of his hotel room by investigators, he was found possessing arms and ammunition which are ordinarily a monopoly of the Defence Forces.
Consequently, Hon Kyagulanyi has today been arraigned before
the General Court Martial in Gulu and charged under S 119 (1) (h)
of the UPDF Act, 2005 on accounts of unlawful possession of
firearms and ammunition. He has subsequently been remanded
till 23rd August 2018.

Earlier, Kyagulanyi’s lawyers including Asuman Basalirwa and Medard Sseggona were the only people allowed in the court as he was being charged.

Other legislators arrested together with Bobi Wine including Kassiano Wadri, Paul Mwiru  and Gerard Karuhanga among other suspects were arraigned before the Gulu Chief Magistrates Court and charged with treason before reminding to Gulu prison until 31th August and allowing them private lawyers to treat them and check for the torture allegations.

Many of the accused’s could not walk properly.
