The former presidential candidate also people’s progressive party (PPP) president Dr. Abedi Bwanika, JEEMA party president Asuman Basalirwa, and Lubaga former member of parliament John Ken Lukyamuzi have today filed a petition to high court through their lawyers Rwakafuuzi and company advocates seeking for some reforms amidst of the current presidential age limit removal controversial bill. Speaking to media at high court today Ladislaus Kiiza Rwakafuuzi, a lawyer of the applicants said despite electoral commission allowed the masses to collect signatures to go for referendum to decide whether presidential age limit is scraped or not, the system is risky because people who collect these signatures especially from up country are being arrested and detained by police thus putting their lives at stake. Now Rwakafuuzi asserts that they want the court to stop the parliament discussing the presidential age limit removal, and electoral commission in collaboration with Uganda communications commission formulate and implement electric signature collection to avoid brutal acts of police done to signature collectors.

In the same manner, Jimmy Twase a concerned citizen through his lawyers of Wameri and company advocates has also filed petition to the same court seeking for an interim order to stop parliament to discuss over presidential age limit removal and the government implement article (4) of the constitution to put it in all local languages from English. He adds that most of the people don’t know what they want to amend because every thing done is being discussed in English
