Uganda business and technical examination board UBTEB has released its 9th series of final year examinations which were conducted between November –December last year with male candidate performing better than the female candidates in all categories.
25876 candidates from 368 accredited examination centers country wide sat for these examinations 19685 being males and 6191 females.
Out of 19685 male candidates, 1570 got distinction while among the 6191 female candidates who sat exams last year 111 got distinctions.
In her massage delivered by the state minister for education in charge of higher education John .C. Muyingo at the release of UBTEB examination at their head quarters in Ntinda, the minister for education and sports Janet Kataha Museveni said that much efforts are still needed to improve on the grades of the female candidates and also to attract them to take up vocational courses.
Janet Museveni also appealed to the department of counseling and guidance in Uganda to partner with the heads of institution and the heads of secondary schools to enable students make relevant choices while deciding the courses to study, adding that is the most solution to the burden of job seekers in the country.
