Works on the Kampala-Entebbe express high way was for entire Tuesday paralyzed after residents of Nalumunye Katale blocked the road with stones in addition to stopping other activities in a staged demonstration against China communication construction company limted (CCCC) over failure to compensate the stone quarry vibration victims whose property and animals have been destroyed.
The angry residents not only blocked the road but also attempted to strangle company staffs including a Chinese national who attempted to ignite caterpillar engines.
The Officer in charge of Nalumunye police Samuel Lubega also faced a hard time to calm down the angry residents who claim that Chineses have failed to compensate them in time yet they were undervalued which to them is unfair.
“We want our compensations, its coming to 9 months eversince the stone quarry began and the construction is soon ending without being paid where will we find these Chinese after the work? We have decided not to allow them (Chinese) do any work today that is why you see big stone everywhere unless we are compensated, it’s going to remain blocked” Residents chanted out.
They further asserted that women and animals have experienced miss courage in addition to destruction of their houses due to the quarry vibrations
“ Now see how our houses are full of cracks, stones tone iron sheets, we vacated our houses due to vibration and now we are living like refugees and tenants yet we are supposed to be land lords. Our birds were killed, pigs and goats got miscourage and now these Chinese are playing with us” Angry residents explain
