Masaka high court deputy registrar Baker Rwakatooro has issued an interim injunction restraining Bank of Uganda from carrying out any activity or development on the Masaka golf course land

Others restrained in the order include Laston Hotels LTD, Masaka District Land Board, the registrar of titles and CRJE (East Africa) ltd and their agents, servants, employee, and any other person claiming under them

The application was filed by Kasibante Charles, Ziwa Charles and Uganda Golf Union and was heard in the presence of their lawyer and Masaka LC5 chairperson Jude Mbabali before her worship Baker Rwatooro

This order will remain in force until the 21st of March this year when the main suite is expected to be determined or until court orders otherwise while the costs of the application shall be in the cause.

It should be noted that recently Masaka district leaders accompanied by Bukoto MP Florence Namayanja, stormed the construction site of the Bank of Uganda currency centre as they moved to block the start of its construction alleging unlawful acquisition of golf course land.

However, the Masaka Municipality Mayor, Godfrey Kayemba, said the Council leaders leased the land to a businessman in the 1990s for the construction of a hotel, it failed to do so and subsequently parceled part of it out to Bank of Uganda.
