Buganda road grade one magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu has set the 10th March 2017 as that she will deliver her verdict in a case where former Old Kampala DPC Joram Mwesigye is accused of assaulting the then WBS TV journalist Andrew Lwanga.
This came after Mwesigye’s lawyer Obed Mwebesa closed his defense for his client after the last and fourth witness in the mater failed to show up in court. it is on this note that the trial magistrate instructed the prosecution to forward its closing submissions in the matter not later than the 6th February and the defense not later than the 20th February this year.
Prosecution alleges that on 12th January 2015 at Florina Bar and Restaurant along Namirembe road in kampala, Mwesigye who is now on bail, assaulted Lwanga while covering news of the National Association of the Unemployed NAU a youth pressure group who were heading to Naguru police Headquarters to meet IGP Kale Kayihura, and he caused him bodily harm and damaged his property.
It further notes that Mwesigye maliciously damaged the Panasonic video camera of another journalist from Bukedde TV Joseph Settimba plus tearing his khaki trouser
