COVID19: UJA appeals to scribes to report responsibly, media owners urged to buy them personal sanitizers, masks



Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) has issued guidelines to journalists on how to avoid contracting Corona virus disease 2019.

In his briefing to the press at their Headquarters in Kawempe,  UJA secretary for information/ public Relations Officer Kabuye Ronald appealed to the media house owners and management to provide personal sanitizers, masks and gloves to all their field journalists/ reporters in addition to the general sanitizers stationed at work places.

He appealed to journalists to buy their personal sanitizers, gloves and masks for those who can afford.

Mr. Kabuye implored journalists to report facts and accurate information about the pandemic and also avoid exaggerating the situation or turning it into comic.

He also called upon the ministry of health/ responsible government institution to continue working in hand with the media in sensitizing the public about the virus.

He further urged journalists to minimize getting into contact with their news sources

Furthermore, Mr. Kabuye appealed to the general public to observe the directives and guidelines issued by president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and ministry of health respectively.


Its should be noted that no single case has been confirmed in Uganda.
