Minister for Kampala Betty Olive Namisango Kamya Turyomwe has cautioned all Lubaga political leaders against participating in the procurement process of the Kasubi Nakyekoledde market failure to adhere, she will be forced to halt the process for review.
While reacting to a petition filed by over 1000 vendors who stormed her offices on Wednesday, Kamya said that the only role of politicana in the market issues is to offer assurance to traders of their stay in the market until all is settled but not involving themselves in the procurement process.
Kamya revealed that he is to meet the attorney general for guidance on how to handle their complaints which inform her response to the trader soonest.
Angry traders accused Him. Kasibante Moses MP Lubaga North for using his ambulance to threaten them instead offering a health service.
They further accused the Lubaga division mayor Owek Joyce Nabbosa and her deputy Ismail Ntale for intimidating, harrasing and failing them to pursue their bid for Nakyekoledde market to win the tender
They also advised government not to waste tax payers funds in buying Namugooga Nkuggwa and Wanji for resettling them on grounds that they are not ready to shift to the same areas.
Adding that tax payers money will be wasted just like the case in USAFI and Wandegeya market.
Doreen Tebironda the Kampala Capital city authority KCCA head of procerement faced tough times from both the minister and the vendors on claims that the procurement process is marred with corruption and opeque systems because Nakyekolede hasnt been visited and yet other bidders have already been visited something that worries them since they heard Ntale claiming that the procurement process is already done.
Over 200 traders attended meeting on behalf of other intimidated vendors of Kasubi market.
