DP to challenge age limit removal bill in court

Democratic party has revealed that they are to file a case in high court on Wednesday challenging the proceedings of parliament that took place on 27th September this year.

Addressing the press at the party headquarters in Kampala the president general of the party Norbert Mao noted that their  deputy party publicity waiswa Mufumbiro will file it  and they are ready to support him.

Mao says they are challenging the manner in which opposition members of parliament were removed from parliament, inclusion of stranger’s in parliament and  how the igara west member of parliament Rapheal Magyezi tabled the  age limit  bill on the floor of parliament  among other issues.

It should be recalled that on 27 September legislators opposed to the lifting of the presidential age limit were forced out parliament by the elite force after the speaker Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga suspending 25 of them.
Furthermore the opposition MPs led by the leader of opposition Winnie Kizza stormed out of parliament after the speaker denied them a chance to submit.

Mao has also revealed that they are to petition government chief whip Ruth Nankabirwa requesting to address members of the NRM caucus members about the dangers of amending article 102 b of the constitution .
