Democratic party youth wing Uganda Young Democrats have lashed at their party president Norman Mao for appointing the deputy party secretary general Dr. Gerald Siranda as the new Secretary General replacing the late Hon. Mathias Nsubuga Bilekereawo who succumbed to a massive stroke while at mukono bookshop on kampla road. This follows Mao unveiling of Sirinda as the new DP’ secretary general a position she will hold for at least year as the party organizes itself. Now UYD youths led by their secretary general Wasswa Charles told journalists in Kampala that Mao contravened the party’ constitution since it’s only the national council that votes the general secretary and not the party president “DP’ constitution stipulates it very clearly that one is not just appointed to become a secretary general, the national council casts a vote on him but Mr. Mao appointed Sirinda and we don’t have a problem with Mr. Sirinda but we have a problem with calling him Secretary general because he doesn’t weigh up besides he hasn’t spend even six years in the party so what does he know?” questioned Waswa He further vowed that as DP youths Mr. Sirinda will not lead them since they are more knowledgeable than him.
