Dr. Besigye to lead FDC’s campaign against JEEMA’S Basalirwa

By Ronald Kabuye
Opposition Forum Democratic Change FDC has revealed that the opposition strong man and four time presidential candidate Rtd Col. Kizza Besigye will lead their candidate’s campaign for Bugiri municipality Eunice Namatende against the Justice forum JEEMA president Asuman Basalirwa and NRM candidate on and after her nomination on Tuesday.
Addressing the press at the party headquarters in najjankumbi the party’s vice president eastern Uganda Salaamu Musumba said there was no way they could withdraw from the race after failing to agree on a single candidate.
She said that the party should not be blamed for the failure to agree on a single candidate since they tried all they could but their colleagues of JEEMA refused to go for the indicator ground sampling to measure who is more viable.
She appealed to the public to support the party’s candidates in all the nine new municipalities and districts whose nomination is scheduled for today Monday and Tuesday.
Other municipalities include Apac, Njeru, Nebbi, Kotido, Ibanda, Sheema and the new districts include Butebo and Paliisa.
However confirmed news doing around is that the high court has issued an injunction halting today Monday’s nomination until the matter challenging the election in the new municipalities is disposed off at 3pm   today.
This is contained in the communication by electoral commission to FDC which has not gone down well with the party to the extent of threatening to seek legal redress in case the nomination are suspended.
