Two Opposition Forum For Democratic Change (FDC) Party official have assaulted journalists who had gone to cover the party’ weekly press conference at Najjankumbi.
It all started when journalists complained of the late cancellation of a press conference way beyond the stipulated time, which prompted the party known officials who work as security officials, to lock them(journalists) in the boardroom before battering some of them.
The ugly acts were done by two errant officials identified as Katumba Henry and a one George, however by God’s grace no journalist was injured in the scuffle.
Now the Uganda Journalists Association (UJA), through their spokesperson Ronald Kabuye, journalists are demanding for a public apology from the party leadership not later than today and an assurance that the same will never happen again.
Failure to adhere to the demands, a boycott of all the party activities shall be announced.
Furthermore, UJA condemned all kinds of violence against journalists and the public at large.
