Opposition Forum for Democratic change FDC wants government to set up an independent committee comprising of economic and law experts from both government and private sector to scrutinise and come up with clear recommendations on the holistic ways to handle the outstanding 37 trillion debt that country is faced with.
Speaking at the party’ weekly press conference, the party deputy publicist Hon. Paul Mwiru noted that it is lamentable that government is still committed to acquiring more loans and pay commitment fees and interest on it yet it has no absorption capacity.
He also highlighted the fact that each Ugandan as it stands now has a loan obligation of at least one million Ugandan shillings.
FDC also asserts that this year’s financial budget is of lesser importance Ugandans since less funds were allocated for pro development and pro people sector like agriculture.
Mwiru also blamed Ugandans for electing into office a mobiliser instead of a manager.
meanwhile Mwiru revealed that FDC is ready to punish their Buganda region chairperson who also doubles as the lubaga division mayor Owek. Joyce Sebugwawo Nabbosa in case they get evidence that she campaigned for the FDC leaning independent candidate in the Kyadondo East constituency Muwada Nkuyinji.
Mwiru says that apart from seeing Nabossa in the photos with Muwada allegedly at his home that went viral on social media, there is no evidence implicating Nabossa publically campaigning for him.
“as FDC we don’t control Muwada’home may Owek. Nabbosa went there to pay a courtesy visit or to convince her to withdraw from the race to allow our candidate ably compete.
But once we get any evidence that any of our members campaigned for other candidate other than our official candidate Apollo Katinti we shall take action” said Mwiru
