The Uganda National Teachers’ Union UNATU has revealed that over 50,000 teachers have not been fully paid since June of this year in 41 districts thus killing their morale.
James Tweheyo the union secretary general cited districts like Mbale, Kiboga, Yumbe, Napak, Kabalore among others have not received their July salary while others have received half.
In Districts like Kalagala and Rakai it’s only teachers that received their salaries but head teachers never received.
Tweheyo adds that as the newly elected civil servant spokesperson is reliably informed that even some police officers have not received their July a thing that leads to reluctance and high crime rate due to loss of morale.
He claims that they have written to government to act upon their cry otherwise it might lead teachers to just pass time in schools come third term but other than offering the necessary service.
Tweheyo further added that the Universal education was a good idea but the government has destroyed it by reluctantly failing to facilitate schools and teachers with the required aid.
He has applauded the parliament for summoning the Micro-finance center over their missing SACCO 7.5BN and vows to avail the required documents if officials claim to having paid to any teachers any moneys.
