Gov’t orders districts to make mama kits available in health centres

The minister of health in charge of general duties Hon Sarah Opendi has ordered all districts in the country to prioritize and make available mama kits in health centres as one of the ways to save lives of pregnant women giving birth.
Opendi made the remarks during the media dialogue on reproductive, maternal, new born, child and adolescent health (RMNCAH) held under the theme media involvement for better accountability and dissemination of RMNCAH information.
Opendi expressed dismay over the number of marternal mortality ratio that stands at 336/100,000 before saying that government is doing everything possible to ensure quality services by making the supply, human resource available and improving the refferal services.
Elizabeth Namagala from ministry health gave the three delays that affect the mortality of the mothers including delay in taking care due to lack of knowledge on where to get the services, delay in reaching health facilities in time and the delay in receiving health care on time.
