Government through its programme Operation wealth creation has committed to support the multi business venture project at Mamre prayer centre Namugongo under the leadership of Bishop Elect for east and southern Africa Jacinto Kibuuka under the Antioch Evangelical Orthodox Catholic church.
This has been revealed by the deputy national coordinator of Operation wealth creation Lt. Gen. Charles Angina who was represented by the director of fruits and horticulture growing Col. John Baptist Mulindwa at the assessing, monitoring, inspection and evaluation of the various projects done by the followers of the Antioch church in the country.
Mulindwa said that the projects which include Baton Mushroom growing/ production,cardigan making, soap, cakes, cookers, peanut butter, counter book, clothes, shoes and crafts production among others are inline with president Museveni vision of transforming Ugandans from substance farming to commercial and getting the youth into industrialisation as he elaborated at the state of the nation and budget speech as one of the ways of delivering them to middle income status thus they cannot get any hesitation in supporting such projects.
According to the head of projects at Mamre prayer centre, Father. Vincent Byansi the required equipments and materials to have fully established industries for each is estimated at about 3.5 billion shillings.
“3.5 billion fits well within the read national budget and we shall put to good use whatever amount they give us.” said Byansi
On his part Bishop Jacinto Kibuuka said that as a prayer centre they don’t stop at only empowering the followers spiritual but also socially and economically.
He said at harvesting each kilogram of Baton mushroom go for 15000.
