How ever much the city business center arcades are still closed following the presidential directive as one of the strategy to end spread of Coronavurus, the Crane Management Services has outshined arcade owners in observing Standard operating procedures (SOPs) against COVID-19.
However following the inter-ministerial committee was established to fast track the process. A technical team headed by the Resident City Commissioner was also set to develop the necessary guiding documents.
This follows technical team from KCCA presented the proposed SOPs for the arcades to inter-ministerial committee. These were discussed and later submitted to the scientific committee for approval.
The approval of the SOPs, the Public Health Inspectorate team commenced on the inspection exercise on Wednesday the 8th of July 2020. Members of KAAFO and KACITA also closely monitored the arcades inspection process.
Hon Amelia Kyambadde the minister for trade and Ministers of Kampala Betty Among and Benny Namugwanya and security Minister Elly Tumwine yesterday held a meeting with arcade owners and representatives of the traders to among other things discuss the report from the inspection team to guide the reopening of the arcades.
It was established that out of the 83 arcades that have so far been inspected only 48 meet the SOPs.
Crane Management services limited has stood out among the arcade owners after it fullfilled all the standard operating procedures by the ministry of health and KCCA.
Prabhat Mishra the General manager Crane Management services, among the SOPs they have put in place at all their facilities to be able to reach this milestone include; the Social Distancing Stickers at every 2 meters inside the buildings to avoid overcrowding.
All their arcade entry and Exit points are clearly marked with placed sanitizers and Hand Wash cans.
They all consist of modern toilets for both ladies, men and Person with Disabilities (PDWs) with soap dispensers and hand wash sanitizers.
The buildings are managed through proper staff hierarchy starting from operations Manager, Property Managers, Caretakers and Cleaners.
“All tenants are briefed with COVID-19 rules of sanitation and we have gone to an extent of distributing 2,000 facemasks and hand sanitizers to all our tenants” said Mishra while speaking to www.pressug.com adding that all their facilities are sanitized three times a day.
He noted that it is against this background that the inspection team for COVID-19 which visited Crane Management services Limited gave them the highest percentage mark among all the arcades in the downtown Kampala.
