The Highcourt has for the 3rd time denied bail to the infamous Lugogo shooting prime murder suspect Matthew Kanyamunyu.
In his ruing read to court by Deputy registrar Rwatooro Muhendo, justice Yasin Nyanzi has dismissed Kanyamunyu’s bail application on grounds that apart from the days spent on remand, he has found nothing new which can persuade him to depart from his earlier decision of 28th/March 2017.
The judge has however advised Kanyamunyu that much as he is free to apply for bail as many times as he wants , he has to make his applications before different judges if he has similar circumstances in order for the justice system to be fair.
Matthew Kanyamunyu is indicted with the murder of social worker Kenneth Akena in November last year at Lugogo along Kampala -jinja Highway as the two got into quarrel when the deceased allegedly scratched his car.
Justice Nyanzi in March however released on bail Kanyamunyu’s co-accused Cynthia Munwangari and Joseph Kanyamunyu but declined to release Mathew on grounds that DPP’s evidence revolves around him as being at the centre of shooting Akena.
The first judge to deny Kanyamunyu bail was Justice Elizabeth Kabanda on grounds of having no known place of residence.
