KCCA sets up a health emergency rescue help line

In abide to improve the health emergency rescue service in greater kampala, the ministry of health has today handled over seven basic life support ambulance to Kampala Capital City Authority KCCA which will serve as the coordinating center.
The under secretary ministry of health Segawa Ronald Gyagenda while handling over the ambulances, appealed to the responsible persons who will be in charge of them not neglect their duties.
He said that all stake holders working together, avoiding complacence is the only way government will achieve a lot with the little it has in improving people’s well being and life style.
Segawa added that the project is also going to be rolled out in all the regions with refferal hospitals and two more are going to be procured and placed at Mulago National refferal hospital for easier coordination.
Receiving the ambulances on kcca’s behalf the acting deputy executive director Namuddu Nambi Juliet committed on behalf of the authority to fulfill their role as agreed on in the momorendum of understanding including training people on the health emergency rescue, maintaining the ambulances, strengthening accidents and emergency health unit and coordinating the services.
She applauded police for the help in handling such emergency even without equipments thus pledging to continue working with them.
KCCA has set up a toll free help line of 912 for those with emergencies.
