Makerere University female students attack feminists, womenactivists over their silence

.

Makerere University female students led by the vice guild president Ms. Judith Nalukwago have expressed dismay over the silence of women activists, feminists and parliament over what they  called silence as they face injustices within a public facility.

While addressing the media in Kampala on Thursday Morning, a bitter Nalukwago said this, in reference to the alleged barbaric acts of torture, assault, rape and robbery administered to Ms. Sasiraabo Siperia Mollie who was attacked yesterday night after her story ran on the local TV news bulletin.

Mollies led a peaceful female demonstration on Tuesday over the 15% increase of tuition

Nalukwago attacked parliament especially female legislators who are silent when girl students practice prostitution for tuition due to the continued hype of tuition in Makerere University.

The vice president is optimistic that military and army could be behind the acts given the fact the incident happened in her hall of residence (Complex hall) where even the military camped.

“Why feminist, parliament and female activists are silent as we go through all these bad experiences all because of the 15% continued tuition increment” “We shall continue to peacefully as females to lead the demonstration in Makerere until our demands are fulfilled” Ms Nalukwago told the media.

“We haven’t established who was behind Mollies attack but we believe that, the army was behind it because she was attacked few meters from where the military is camped and Makerere has now become an army barrack who can’t protect us but instead attack us” Nalukwago added.

Nalukwago said that even when the Vice Chancellor Barnabus Nawangwe decided to suspend and expelled most of them, they are determined to go through all kinds of intimidations for the betterment of the university.

She added that for over 7 months, they have tried to dialogue with the administration and petition all relevant authorities but no tangible fruits have been yielded.

Over 40 students have so far been detained in Wandegeya Police Station as the attacked Molies has been recommended to seek Psychiatrists after her head being affected.
