Buganda premier Charles peter mayiga has pledged to mediate and dissolve the growing wrangles in the Democratic Party.
Addressing members of parliament from the Buganda caucus at Bulange Mengo, Mayiga appealed to the conflicting faction in the party to use his office to have their disputes resolved as a way of saving the image of the oldest party in the country.
Mayiga noted that the ongoing conflicts in DP only drives the country in reverse since it only deter the country’s political growth yet it’s politics that drive other aspects that aim at development.
Mayiga’ pledges comes a time when the democratic party is promptedly divided into two faction that’s the good and bad DP which led to the last week’s series of handing the party’ vice president in Buganda Betty Nambooze Bakileke a three month suspension from her position by the National Executive committee meeting that sat at Pope Paul hotel pending investigation into her conduct and committee was immediately set up look into the matter.
In the same way mayiga advised parents to prepare and empower their children well while still in tender age enable them fight and retain their parents property while in their advanced age or while dead.
The advise was made while responding to the request by Lwengo district member of parliament Cissy Namujju to extend the lease period for the Bibanja holders in Buganda from the stipulated 49 years to 99 years.
Mayiga also revealed that apparently 500 Ugandans on kabaka’s land have acquired their land tittles.
It should be noted that last week, Mayiga launched a campaign dubbed a land title in your hands aimed at eliminating land disputes amongst kabaka’ subject at a reduced price of 200 percentage which offer is ending in October this year and only limited to the 13000 subjects who registered their Bibanja with the Buganda land board.
However ever since the launch their has been mixed reactions in public concerning the matter.
