The Buganda premier Owekitibwe Charles Peter mayiga has emphasised the need to initiate measures on guiding people in regard to climate change, cabbage or rubbish disposal, environmental degradation, aforestation and environmental protection in general if uganda is to be safe guarded from the environment advanced effects.
Mayiga made the remarks while launching the Buganda environmental natural resource management technical and advisory committee chaired by Kibazo Kyagambiddwa Fredrick Williams and the organising committee of the Buganda environment day due on the 20 of October chaired by Matia Lwanga Bwanika at bulange Mengo.
Mayiga says that the aspects of population growth has left the biggest pressure exerted on land and environment and the fact that we all depend on land has grossly advanced effects on environment.
Mayiga revealed that he has trust that the capacities and expertise of the various people on the two committees will bear fruits especially in coming up with a clear strategy and in organisation.
The committee has been tasked to coordinate Buganda government with central government, individuals and civil societies in helping to sensitise the public about environmental issues.
