The select committee which was instituted to scrutinize the matters to do with the minimum wage in Uganda has handed over its report to the minister of gender labor and social development Janat Mukwaya at her office in Kampala.
The committee dubbed Minimum Wage Advisory Board was put in place in 2015, chaired by Kanya Chris.
The board made consultations within and outside Uganda   in countries including Tanzania and Kenya.
They recommended that the minimum wage should be at uganda shillings one hundred Thirty-six thousand 136,000 for all Ugandans monthly.
It also called for the passing of the minimum wage bill in to an act.
Minister Mukwaya promised that the report would be presented to cabinet for approval, before being tabled before parliament.
However both Kanya and Mukwaya declined to divulge into the details of the report saying it was immaterial to share the same with the media.
Many journalists that attended the meeting where seen fuming for being taken for granted since the two were relectaunt to answer their limited questions.
