Mugema “Panadol” retains his seat as Iganga municipality legislator

By Ronald Kabuye

National Resistance movement legislator Peter Mugema alias Panadol has retained his seat as member of parliament for Iganga Municipality following the appeals court ruling.

Three justices led by the former Deputy Chief Justice Steven Kavuma on Thursday declared NRM’s Mugema as validly elected after quashing a Jinja high court decision that nullified his election.

The judges in their ruling read by Deputy Registrar Esther Nambayo, reversed most of the grounds on which the Jinja Court judge Margaret Mutoni based on to cancel his election

The judges overruled the claim that Panadol paid a bribe of 300,000 shillings as an offertory during and overnight prayer service, saying that a offertory never be considered a bribe before awarding him all costs used in this case.

After the ruling Panadol expressed joy while fdc’s Mudiobole Nasser called  for restructuring of the law to allow them  proceed to the Supreme Court
