The Alliance For National Transformation (ANT) Party has been officially launched today at Kampala Serena hotel.
The national coordinator of ANT and former Forum for Democratic Change FDC president, Major. General. Gregory Mugisha Muntu said their party represents hope that with unity a new nation will be formed.
He accused the current ruling government of causing the worse damage ever to the citizens by crashing their spirits hence making them think they can not achieve anything as opposed to motivating and creating a condusive environment to operate in since its the only way that makes people recover their sense of dignity and culture.
Muntu urged oppositions politicians to make politics more attractive to the good people so that they become majority politics to enable the country get the transformation it requires.
He further urged that the change of mind set is the perfect thing and the best solution and influence of the country’s future.
In her key note address, Upendo Peneza, a member of parliament in the National Assembly of Tanzania and chairperson of Tanzania youth forum called upon political parties to teach and practice equity, democracy and identify, maintain their principles so as to keep Uganda safe even after change of the country’s leadership.
She also urged them to build strong and proper structures since without them there is no people power before appealing to the youths to hold their parties accountable as its the case with government.
The convener of the launch and former Serere woman MP Hon. Alice Alaaso said that ANT is a value based political party, royal to Uganda and committed to work with everyone and all entities that want a transformed and better country.
Alaaso said the time has come for Ugandans to own up and clean up the mess and scandals that range from corruption, gross intolerance, intimidation and among others than blaming the colonial and past regimes.
She further added that in the next three months they will carry out national wide tours popularising and recruiting members.
ANT also unveiled the interim leadership with Major. General. Mugisha Muntu has the national coordinator.
Others include among others Alice Alaaso as deputy in charge of finance and administration, Nyanja Musoke as deputy in charge of coordination and operations, Sebyazi Wilberforce as spokesperson and Sulaiman Kakaire as his deputy.
