Nambooze’s lawyers write to UHRC seeking for her immediate release

Mukono municipality legislator Hon Betty Nambooze Bakireke’s lawyers of M/S Lukwago and co advocates have written to Uganda Human Rights commission UHRC interesting it to order for immediate release of its client.
Nambooze is currently at Kiruddu referral  hospital where she is getting medication following her arrest and detention from Thursday last week on offenses of offensive communication and inciting violence that police suspects that they might have led to the slain Arua municipality legislator Hon Ibrahim Abiriga and his brother who also doubled as his body guard Saidi Bugu Kongo assassination but While in custody on Friday Nambooze’s health condition deteriorated and she was shortly to Rene clinic before being rushed to Kiruddu referral hospital in Makindye division Kampala for treatment and on their way the ambulance was involved in a minor accident.
According to the letter seen by this website it narrates events before and after her arrest including the fact that she was supposed to travel back to India where her spinal cord was operated from for medical review and specialized treatment on orders of the physician who worked on her and that she had already been cleared by parliament administration.
“we seek for your intervention Uganda Human Rights Commission to intervene and invoke the powers enshrined in article 53(2) of the constitution to order for her immediate release to her regain her liberties and freedoms and also be in position to travel to India for specialized medical treatment.”read the letter in parts that was copied also to Police headquarters Naguru, administration Kiruddu hospital and Hon. Betty Nambooze.
In the same way hon Medard Lubega Ssegona and Sam Muyiizi also Nambooze’s lawyers are in the final stages of filling application over the same in courts of law while the opposite legislators through the leader of opposition in parliament Winnie Kiiza are engaging parliament and speaker of parliament Rt Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga to have Nambooze regain her freedom.
