NO PUBLISHING STORIES ON KAWEESI’ MURDER, COURT ALLOWS KAYIHURA’ APPLICATION

High court assistant registrar her Worship Kabagye Bahinguzi Joy has granted an interim order to the police chief General Edward Kale Kayihura restraining four media houses, their managing editors, agents and employees from publishing any story or content related to the series of investigation on the fallen AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi’ murder pending the disposal of the main application.
“an interim  order doth issue restraining the respondents/ defendants by themselves or through other authorised agents/servants/employees from publishing the contents or running any series on the investigations into the murder of AIGP andrew Felix Kaweesi pending the disposal of the main application HCMA no. 255 of until further orders are issued by court.” read part of the sealed order granted the 21st day of April 2017
” costs of the application will be in the main cause” it read further
The application was heard in absence of defendants but in presence of the applicants lawyer.
The affected media houses and their managing editors include the red pepper whose editor was not indicated, the online publications which include chimpreports whose managing editor Giles Muhame, the investigator whose managing editor is Ndawula Stanley and the Uganda whose managing editor is Dickson kacurusi.
It is important to note that on several occasions kayihura himself and through the police spokesperson have cautioned media houses to refrain from writing about the same issue despite the deceased’s family not being contented with the way the investigation are being handled.
