NRM EALA ELECTIONS FLOPS AMID CHAOS, POSTPONED FOR TODAY

.

East African Legislative Assembly EALA elections for National Resistance Movement NRM have flopped and postponed to Wednesday the 08th of this month at 2pm following the disagreement on the exact number they are supposed to vote.

The voting process turned chaotic during the tallying stage after some delegates voted for 7 slots instead of the six slots out of the 36 candidates.

Members of Parliament and candidates hijacked the tallying point from the electoral officials led by its Chairman, Prof. Tanga Odoi

The Government Chief Whip, Ruth Nankabirwa who is also the Chairperson of the Caucus tried to intervene but in vain.

The NRM secretary general Justine Kasule Lumumba who was apologetic of whatever happened said that the exercise will be repeated tomorrow with every  voter at voting two women, one youth and  person with disability to a total of six candidates.

“we shall have a full list of the candidates and every member will be required to vote at least two women, a youth and person with disability but the person is at liberty to vote women in the six position because it’s also constitutional”
