Nearly four month in prison luzira prison, the Rwenzururu king Omusinga Charles Wesley Membere has been once again granted bail by Jinja high court judge Michael Erobu on stringent conditions
Omumbere through his lawyers led by Caleb Alaaka and Samuel Muyizi presented five sureties who also happen to his closed relatives and each was asked to pay 100 million non cash and to always ensure that mumbere always appears before court whenever required.
The sureties include state minister for agriculture Christopher Kibazanga, Baluku Geofrey, Bwambale Constatine, Mugisha Amos and Tugonza Eldrine.
On his part Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere court has restricted his movements to kampala, wakiso and Jinja districts, his visitors will first seek permission from police before meeting him and his required to report to the court registrar once in every month.
The judge also told Mumbere that police and Uganda people’s defense forces UPDF will keep around him and continue to protect him since he is entitled to it as one of the cultural leaders.
Meanwhile before the hearing commenced in camera security personells had denied journalist access to court but they were saved by the court registrar Jesse Byaruhanga who asked to them to allow journalists access but cautioned them not to record anything.
It should be recalled that the same court presided over by justice Eve Luswata granted Mumbere bail in December last year but he was re arrested outside the court premises and charged with additional case an act that was criticised by many people including the chief justice Bart Katureebe.
Omusinga and many others are charged with various cases including terrorism and murder
In the same way the Leader of Opposition in Parliament Winnie Kiizza wants the other mumbere co accused to also be released un conditionally.
