Only 100 faithful will be allowed in churches, MOH trains CECU clergy on SOPs

Ministry of health has revealed that once churches reopen they will only allow 100 worshipers per services in addition to excluding children and the sick from attending the services.

This has been disclosed by the ministry of health official in charge of public health emergencies Richard Okwi while training over 50 religious leaders heads from various denominations that unite under  the Christian Ecumenical Council of Uganda (CECU) at mamre international prayer centre Namugongo Janda.
The chairperson of CECU Bishop jacinto Kibuuka on behalf of others welcomed the training and pledged to strictly follow the SOPs.
He said that the training and current steps being taken by government  gives them  hope  that places of worship will finally be reopened after being closed for over six months.
He also used the oppourtunity to condemn the acts of beheading and sacrificing human being, violence in elections, saying it exhibits a huge task religious leaders and government have to sensitize the public out of  primitivity.
He urged government to investigate  and bring such culprits to book.

SOPs for places of worship

. Registering details for all worshipers.

. Measuring temperature at the entrance for members of the congregation

. Washing hands with water and soap at the entrance of the places of worship

. Sanitizing.

. Sitting in a distance of 2 metres from each other

. Not more than 100 people in a place of worship

. Putting on facemasks every time.

. Observing social distance during holy communion

. Place of worship should have both entry and exit points that should never be crowded

. No shaking hands during service but rather wave at each other

. Avoid sharing hymn books during service

. Night prayers should not go past the 9pm curfew time

. Sunday schools not allowed

. There should be an isolation room to be used in case of emergencies
