Opposition supporters at cross road over Bugiri municipality MP seat.

Following the declaration by the Uganda Electoral Commission that the new 7 municipalities will elect their leaders just weeks ago, tension and confusion have emerged in the opposition especially on making a choice on who to support amongst the opposition candidates who want to contest for Bugiri Municipality legislator.

Among the candidates who have declared interest in the seat is Justice forum JEEMA president and senior lawyer Hajji Asuman Basalirwa and FDC’s former Bugiri district woman MP candidate Ms Namatende Eunice which has left opposition leaders perturbed on who to rally behind.

This has led to bitter exchange by opposition supporters especially from FDC on social media who claim that their candidate (Eunice) was cheated in the 2016 general elections hence is the candidate to support while¬† others support¬† Basalirwa since from day one he openly declared a war against anyone or anything related to the pro-recent constitution amendment giving him a high chance to stand and join other pro-people legislators like Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, Muwanga Kivumbi, Medard Lubega Ssegona, Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, Allan Ssewanyana, Roland Kagyinda Mugume, Winfred Kizza, Kaps Hassan Fungaroo, Okumu Ronald Reagan, Ondonga Otto, Nathan Nandala Mafabi among others since most people think that the vote as of now is determined by the “TOGYIKWATAKO/GYIKWATEKO” ideology.

In an exchange of reactions, some supporters suggest that since other parties like DP have been supporting FDC’s candidates, its high time fdc too supported the JEEMA who seem to stand higher

In one of the discussion Mr. Ronald Muhinda the FDC strongman’s aide alleges that Ms Namatende scored and won the municipality a then town council which gives her an upper hand to win. Whereas in another discussion some claim that FDC and DP have been cordially working together after bilateral party discussion which has not happened between the two parties.

Apparently such social media discussion is still amongst opposition supporters and member levels and according to different conversations from different facebook, twitter and whatsapp groups this website has been following no top party leaders has been engaged in such a discussion as of yet.
