in their joint operations launched on Monday this week by the inspector General of police Gen. Edward Kale Kayihura dubbed keep peace in Kampala, Kampala metropolitan police KMP has so far arrested 50 suspected criminals believed to be terrorising Kampala out of the 100 name watch list they developed.
This has been revealed by the KMP commander Frank Mwesigwa in his brief to the press.
Mwesigwa said that in this joint operations with other security agencies, they have managed to recover one pistol with two bullets, pangas, knives, stolen motorcycles and home appliances among others.
He has also revealed that 15 other people have also been arrested in connection to throwing threatening leaflets however they are still on the haunt for more suspects since some of the apprehended suspects have confessed to have executed the act.
Mwesigwa clarified that they came up with the watchlist in prone crime areas after getting credible intelligence information from both the security agencies and communities which they engage much in their operations.
Now this operation which will last for 45 days involves aerial operations which involves using choppers to detect the hide out for the criminals and these operations are suspected to be sustained beyond the above days
in the related story the Uganda police force has taken responsiblity for the undesirable condition that the Kamwenge town council mayor Geofrey Byamukama is in.
According to the police mouth piece Asan Kasingye the victim was taken to Nakasero hospital where police foot the medication bill and will continue since he was discharged and will only be going back for reviews and suspected police officers who inflicted the uncalled for and nasty injuries, trauma and torture have been arrested and placed under investigation by police’ professional standard unit.
Kasingye cautioned the police officer to desist from such torture practice since every officer is accountable for his deeds.
Geoffrey Byamukama is believed to have been arrested along parliament avenue where a scuffle ensued and the same continued to whereever he has taken including Naguru.
Byamukama was arrested in connection to the fallen AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi, his body guard Kenneth Erau and driver Geofrey Wambewo assassination.
However in the past police denied knowledge of the way abouts of Byamukama.
