Makerere university police led by its officer in charge Denis Kasibante has this  morning arrested three national Resistance Movement youths who were addressing a press conference opposing the anticipated move to have article 102B  of the constitution which put the age of any presidential candidate between 35 to 75 years.
At first there was an exchange between the O/c Kasibante and the leader of the group co-named Ugandans Below 40 years UB40 Robert Rutaaro as regards to the meeting being legal or not
meanwhile prior to his arrest Rutaaro and Habib Mboowa who happen to be the coordinator of the UB40 said that they will do whatever it takes to stop the amendments even if it means losing their lives.
Among the reasons advanced for their resistance against the anticipated amendments include the need for Ugandans to see a peaceful transition, youth to also get a chance to lead the country or other able people and to have the welfare of the poor, starved, oppressed, diseased and unemployed bettereed
” A proposal of the sort that is being suggested can only have the counter productive effect of clogging the generational flow of leadership across all levels and thereby causing stagnation which is not healthy for a political party of Nrm’s stature. ” said Rutaaro
“It is our wish and aspiration that our incumbent leader president YK Museveni respects the constitution which bars him from running for president in 2021. This will demonstrate his ability to break the spell and cycle of violent transitions. ”
He added
others arrested and detained at wandegeya police station include Musoke Eria and Wakira Hamidu Luutu.
It should be noted that on Tuesday afternoon the deputy Attorney General Mwesigwa Rukutaana told parliament that government is not considering making any amendments on regards to presidential age limit
