Police has advised managers of bus terminals and taxi parks to accredit people who will be carrying luggage of passengers on their way to villages.
Speaking to the media, Kampala Metropolitan Commander Frank Mwesigwa marked the festive season as a season that is to bring both Uganda and non Ugandans alike together in celebrations.
He has also advised those intending to travel travel upcountry to drive carefully and leave private guards at home but also ensure that there is energy lighting on the perimeter walls.
As the festives approach, police says, there are expected heightened economic, social events, and political activities that will lead to increasing volume of traffic on streets and high ways.
He says it is also the time when criminals may take advantage to commit all activities of crime.
On this matter, police has assured the public of safety over the festive season and ready, fully equipped to handle any issue that may rise.
Division police commanders have also been advised to ensure that there is enhanced access control measure in places of worship and entertainment as well as supervise private security companies.
