Public Universities Non- Teaching Staff To Resume Their Strike


The public universities non- teaching staff executives forum (PUNTSEF), have threatened to resume their strike in August this year to show their grievances over government’s failure to release their money for both arrears and salary enhancement. The PUNTSEF, management led by chairperson, Jackson Betihamah today visited at ministries of education, sports science and technology as well as finance, planning and economic development for fact finding process over this money a head of commencing first semester of first year 2018. While talking to media, Jackson Betihamah said that, president Museveni directed the line ministries to address this issue in 2015, unfortunately it has ever been solves, adding that, they have realized that, the money is not included on the budget frame work paper for the next financial year if 2018/2019. He notes that, they demand arrears amounting to ugx177b, from 2015, and 78.5b of salary enhancement totaling to UGX196b. Meanwhile he adds efforts to talk to concerned officials from the both ministries have declined following their absenteeism in the office, however those ones from finance ministry have promised to meet them tomorrow.
