Minister of finance, planning and economic development  Hon Matia Kasaija has refuted public claims that funders dictate conditions for projects in Uganda thus  in  the end forcing nationals to pay for all projects being funded especially by Chinese.

A tough talking Kasaija who was signing loan agreement from Japan Thursday morning at the ministry headquarters in Kampala,  said that it’s  government which decided to put up road tolls along Entebbe express high and other  Kampala Jinja and Kampala Bombo by-passes with the aim of facilitating the increasing debts that government has gathered.

“It is not true that funders order us to create road tolls on the newly constructed roads but its due to the debts we have accumulated, thus a decision to set up road tolls” Minister Kasaija clarrified.

At the same function minister of state for works Gen Edward Katumba Wamala also advised that using road toll roads is optional which shouldn’t be an issue for public to worry about.

“No need to worry about the toll roads because old routes are to remain active but to those who hate traffic jam and want to use these new roads will have to pay” Minister Katumba explained.
