Security Tight at Makerere after presidential directive to shut down university

Police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi has issued a deadline for both local and International students to vacate the university campus.

Security remains tight in Makerere  university following orders by President Yoweri Museveni to close the university.

Police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi has issued a deadline for both local and  International students to vacate the university campus. The university facilities will also remain closed to the public indefinitely.

Inspector General of Police, General Kale Kayihura, held a closed door meeting with the University Vice Chancellor Prof Ddumba Ssentamu earlier in the day before inspecting his juniors on duty. Gen. Kayihura maintained that the closure of the university was necessary because the security situation at the university was getting worrisome. He added that the closure was to allow all parties involved to resolve their differences in an atmosphere free of insecurity
