The executive director Straight Talk foundation Suzan Ajock has called on government for stringent laws and solutions that engage young people against alcohol consumption.
Ajock says underage alcohol consumption is a growing vice not only causing health problems but social problems as well.
This follows a survey conducted in districts of kampala, soroti, kabale and Gulu districts showing that more than 50% percent of young people, surveyed to ever had consumed some sort of alcohol of these 17% being under age.
Now, Ajock says that the health risks arising from underage alcohol consumption have increasingly become burden to burden government health expenditures.
She therefore calls for enforcement of the use of national IDs to minimize sale of alcohol to minors, banning alcohol sachets regulation of illicit alcohol and funding to sensitize opinion leaders about liquor regulation
