In abide to interest youth into the fight against tobacco use and smoking in the country, Uganda Health Communication Alliance UHCA have embarked on the two-day Tobacco Control Hackton to come up with an appropriate message that will stop active tobacco user and smokers from the vice and others from getting into the vice.
Speaking to journalists at Design Hub in Bugolobi where scientists, information technology experts and journalists convened, Destiny Gladys Chaiga from UHCA said the Hackton is as a result of the need to target and rally youths and the wide audience against tobacco use given the fact that many, especially school goers are attracted to the vice due to lack of inadequate awareness that tobacco is actually poison since it causes various types of Cancer diseases and failure in reproduction health that leads to death.
Chaiga says due to the above, the young people are of the view that each step taken towards the elimination of causes of death matters especially through communicating to a wider audience.
In the same way, on behalf of Design Hub, Jacobine Van Nienwhyle said the intervention is timely especially in creating an attractive away of stopping the public from tobacco use and public smoking.
