The Uganda communications commission UCC has on Tuesday evening suspended the kawala based pastor Augustine Yiga ABS TV’ broadcasting licence for repeated breech of minimum broadcasting standards in spite of the several warnings.
This was contained in the letter dated the 5th of September 2017 issued by UCC signed by the executive director Godfrey Mutabazzi.
“the ucc has in accordance with section 5(i) (x) and 41 of the UCC act 2013 and clause 24 of the license agreement dated 3rd May 201, indefinitely suspended ABS TV broadcast licence until such a time when the commission shall be satisfied that ABS TV has modified and harmonised it’s program content with the law, the minimum broadcast standards and license terms and conditions” read the letter in parts
“this is therefore to direct ABS TV to immediately stop broadcasting on all platforms.
Please be advised that if within 60 days from the date hereof, the commission doesn’t receive convincing representation from ABS TV demonstrating the measures instituted to ensure all programs have been modified to comply with the law, the commission shall commence proceedings to REVOKE ABS TV broadcasting license without further notice” further read the letter.
It should be recalled that in October 2016 UCC fined ABS TV uganda shillings 25 million on the same grounds
