Uganda’s Ruling NRM to Hold Primaries in New Districts on Nov 21

he ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission (EC) through her deputy chairperson  Mr. John Arimpa Kigyagi have announced November 21, 2018 as the polling date for the pending primary elections of the newly created 6 districts and the old district of Hoima.

Addressing the media at the party secretariat in Kampala, Kagyayi apologised to all party candidates in those districts that had successfully nominated for Parliament and LC 5 but were disorganized when the party postponed the polling to a later date.

Kigyagi has further explained the reason as to why there have been several postponement ranging from lack of enough logistics to funds though all challenges have been addressed.

“We are set to hold primaries in the 7 districts of Kwania, Kassanda, Kikuube, Nabilatuk, Bugweri, Nabilatuk and the old district of Hoima, having acquired all the relevant resources,” Kigyagi said.

He further noted that there wont be any new nominations and campaigns since these were done before the postponement but candidates will be allowed time to hold consultative meetings with their supporters as a way of reviving them for the polls.

Kigyagi has appealed to all party officials ranging from NRM District Elections Officers, candidates, district party leadership, security and the entire NRM fraternity in the 7 districts to prepare accordingly to ensure that the party wins all the positions.
