UJA drags deputy court registrar Waninda to court over assault

Uganda journalists Association UJA and journalists Hannington Kisakye and Eric Yiga working with Smart 24 and Salt media respectively have dragged the deputy Judiciary registrar in charge of planning and development His worship Fred Waninda to high court over assault and threatening to cause harm to them.

The journalists want  Waninda to pay 150 million shillings to each as compensation to the physical and psychological assault, violation of their freedoms and for the gadgets he damaged.

Last week UJA petitioned the Judicial Service Commission JSC over the conduct of Waninda.

While addressing the media after filing the petition, the secretary for human rights and media safety in UJA Mukose Arnold Anthony said that the petition calls for disciplinary action while the civil suit filed seeks for compensation adding that they are yet to file a criminal case against him.
It should be noted that on the 24th of April while covering the court proceedings at commercial Court, Waninda physically tortured,slapped Hannington Kisakye an his camera was damaged and When Eric Yiga inquired as to why Waninda was acting in that manner He instead turned to him and held him by the collar of the Shirt and squeezing his neck.
